Many families who lost their source of income now face a sharp decrease in earnings and, in many cases, have lost basic financial security altogether. As a result, everyday expenses—such as food, rent, and costs associated with education and healthcare—have become a heavy burden on many families, especially those with children who require additional attention, care, and investment. Even in normal times, families with children in Israel constantly grapple with financial pressures and daily challenges. However, since the outbreak of the Sword of Iron War, the situation has dramatically worsened. The war has brought with it economic, psychological, and social effects on families, leaving them facing a reality much harsher than ever before. For many families, this year marks a low point in their lives, as they need assistance more than ever just to survive the day-to-day, not to mention the preparations for the upcoming High Holidays. This year, more than any other, families with children in Israel are in desperate need of help. The economic, psychological, and social challenges brought on by the Sword of Iron War have placed them in an especially difficult situation as they struggle to get through daily life.
The Chanukah season, which used to be a time of renewal and joy, has now become an additional source of concern for many families. Holiday preparations require extra financial outlay, pushing many families to a point where they struggle to meet even their most basic needs. More than ever, these families need support to ensure that during this holiday season, they can experience at least a small amount of joy and familial connection.
Alongside the financial strain, the war has also brought immense psychological stress to both parents and children. Many families are dealing with anxiety, trauma, and uncertainty about the future, and are on the verge of collapse. Children who have experienced the war firsthand, whether through sirens or sheltering in safe rooms, are suffering from behavioral changes, sleep disturbances, and restlessness. Meanwhile, parents find themselves struggling to bear the heavy burden of caring for their children while they themselves are under constant pressure.
